Sækədʒəwiːə (CZ)
The Ostrava band with the strangest name in the Czech Republic (pronounced “Sakajavia”), which was borrowed from the famous Indian woman. They debuted in 2017 with the album Temporary Thing, recorded at the Vienna studio Listencareful with the singer of the Austrian band Lausch. In the reactions to it were comparisons to Pearl Jam in the rockier passages and R.E.M. in the more lyrical. The band often touches on funky or the more traditional influences of seventies art rock. Explosive and pulsing mixed between straight forwardness with arranging finesse, they defy fashionable, modern influences. Maybe you will agree with Musicserver who said that they are “the hottest candidates on the the Czech Club scene”.
